Treating FIP in cats

Only a few years ago, feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) was considered a universally fatal disease in cats. This was particularly tragic is it primarily affects kitten. Fortunately, this has changed dramatically. With prompt diagnosis and appropriate antiviral treatment, the majority of cats can now be expected to survive and return to a normal quality of life.

NZCAS members have been actively involved in research into FIP treatments in New Zealand, including studies investigating oral remdesivir, and continue to provide advice to veterinarians throughout New Zealand.
